Michele shares with us about her experience of being a missionary and answering God's Call in the midst of a troubled time. From California, she went on mission to Honduras in July 2019, returning in February 2020 following God's call to serve for 2 months as a full time missionary. During the pandemic, when we suddenly found ourselves unable to do as much as we used to, we were inspired to reflect on the question: what is mission for you? What was the purpose of each missionary, and what truly defined mission for each of us? Here’s a brief summary of what mission means to each of the missionaries who were there during the pandemic.

To the people in the villages throughout Honduras and in the eastern shore of Virginia whom we have visited on mission, and now because of the pandemic, have not been able to visit; God is giving us a significant opportunity to grow in recognizing that He is trustworthy and that His plans and providence are constant. ⁣ ⁣. To the different teams that have accompanied us year after year on these missions and to those who had planned to join us in 2020 but due to the current crisis were not able to come, we fully trust that God has given us clear and distinct ways to respond to the call to mission wherever we find ourselves.⁣ ⁣. One thing is very clear; although we are not able to meet with our brothers and sisters face to face in Honduras and Virginia immediately, the mission has not been postponed. Our common mission to pray for one another and for all those who we know desired to make a difference in the lives of people in another part of the world is still part of our call. ⁣. God is definitely faithful and His providence is never mistaken. The unity we have in one Faith and in being one family in our universal Church goes far deeper and beyond changes in plans, our faults and failures, pain, disaster, and suffering. Andrew and Cristina Pocta were both long term Missionaries with the Missioners of the Christ before getting married. They now have two absolutely beautiful children. They came down to visit us in March and Andrew made this video after. I love this video because it not only shows our house and the Friars Convent, but also our neighborhood and new property where we are hoping to build a retreat center.
